Meridian Energy; A Flying Moose Illuminates Green Energy

A Flying Moose Illuminates Green Energy
San Francisco. New
Zealand is blessed with abundant, inexpensive
hydroelectric power, but the economical harvesting of solar
energy in the country lags behind installations in other
parts of the world where the sun shines more often and there
are fewer alternatives to fossil fuel. The Pacific island
country averages only about 2,000 hours
of sunshine each year. In contrast, Southern California
basks in about 3,000 hours of sunshine annually.
A Solar Farm for California

Jane Capital consulted with Meridian on a host of issues
and ultimately assisted the company in purchasing San
Francisco-based Cleantech
America, a developer of utility-scale, environmentally
clean solar farms. The $5.4 million purchase will see Meridian
take ownership of a 5-megawatt photovoltaic solar facility
in Mendota, Calif., that will be commissioned in December
2009.
Video to Promote the New Solar Website
To publicize Meridian's venture into the solar energy field,
the company built a new website: Meridian
Solar. The site communicates how Meridian, with
its formidable expertise in large-scale power distribution,
will be a leading player in the emerging solar market. The
Moose directed John Voltz, principal at Jane Capital and
a solar energy expert, and Peter Beadle, a member of the
Meridian Solar Advisory Board, to convey the companies' positive
message about the future of solar energy.
Meridian had already recorded several additional interviews
at its offices in New Zealand. The Moose matched the
look and performance of the existing videos, supporting the
message that Meridian and Jane Capital were partners in a
single, integrated organization bridging two hemispheres.
